A SOUL NOW FREED

Hi, I’m Becca Nigel’s daughter and I am helping him out whilst he is ill. These are a few of his poems that were ready to post. I’m sure he’ll be back soon.

‘Be tethered no more v2’

A Soul now freed

Though my body is by ropes of foul malady bound,

and I’m haunted by memories of a life lived before,

still do I feast on the rich fruits I find lying around

and to all that’s ordinary will I be tethered no more.

I let curiosity loose to soar above on silvered wings

and from the blue look down on all that’s mundane,

and witness sights unseen, listening as earth sings

it’s songs of life, hearing night’s morning refrain.

No longer do I have to fear the sad folly of youth

and yet a boy’s heart beats in me still, so I dream,

for therein lie the previews of tomorrow’s truth,

so to simply fall asleep is surely to blaspheme.

I wear not a coat of unease and make bold of deed,

embracing the mantle of a tethered soul now freed.

  1. Hi, Becca. Love this poem, and I’m glad you shared it. It speaks of the great wisdom and perspective your dad carries within. Please give my best to him. Hope he’s back writing poetry with us very soon.

    1. I will, thanks. I’m just back from Uni but feel I know all these Poets he messages me about. If correct you just wrote a poem about a circus of fair. He loved that. His tablets had to be altered and now he can hardly move, the drugs are often worse !

      1. Yes, I did recently write about a circus. I’m so glad he enjoyed that one. 🙂
I’m so sorry he’s having a hard time. Wish there was more that could be done without the drugs causing worse symptoms. Hope he feels better very soon!
