A sudden reveal
I wasn’t aware of the nebulous smog,
the silent to smother lullaby,
as it crushed cold reason
courting doubt and caution,
beyond mindful static,
until I passed the baker’s window,
my eyes flitting from
apple pies to ghost picnics
by the Abbey ruins,
where the river slowly steals the bank
as it corners wide.
A voice from everywhere announced
‘TA DAAA !’
and a sudden reveal, an instant clarity
appeared, like the bedroom light banishes
a winter dark.
I love her filled every and all,
if only I’d bought apple pie sooner.
