Secret subway tryst

I’ll see you if I time it right,

tying laces when I’m early

hoping I haven’t missed

our secret subway tryst.

I chanced a first smile today

passing our flickering light

you with coy averted eyes

under neon tunnel skies.

I know you feel this too

though always walk on by

with the high heel tap beat

of the rush hour retreat.

I thought we’d be together now

the perfect commuter couple

and finally to have kissed

in a secret subway tryst.

  1. Intriguing piece of poetry and picture to start the week Nigel. It gets me thinking of all those paths in life that never quite crossed and the little instances of fate that placed us on the paths we took.

    1. Thank you Davy, I wasn’t that pleased with this one, felt it was a filler but yourself, Miriam, Roland and Lynn all picked up different aspects that were put there by design so in the end it’s been intriguing to me as well.
