Inspired by DayD’s recent and fun picture caption post. EVEN POETS CAN BE FUNNY

Basically, humorous internet images.

An Internet meme is an activity, concept, catchphrase or piece of media which spreads, often as mimicry or for humorous purposes, from person to person via the Internet. An Internet meme may also take the form of an image (typically an image macro), hyperlink, video, website, or hashtag. It may be just a word or phrase, sometimes including an intentional misspelling. These small movements tend to spread from person to person via social networks, blogs, direct email, or news.

An image macro is digital media featuring a picture, or artwork, superimposed with some form of text. They are one of the most common forms of internet memes, a term, that according to Knobel and Lankshear (2007) has come to mean the rapid dissemination and uptake of “particular idea presented as a written text, image, language ‘move’, or some other unit of cultural ‘stuff'”.

The following are from my ‘clown side’ alter-ego site.

Good God man ! you can see her ankles !!

Mother really didn’t like having her picture taken

Even when the candles were lit, Susan still insisted it was her hat.

Reginald found his date so unappealing he also wore a lamp-shade in case hers fell off.

By combining wash day with bath night thrifty Yorkshire mothers beat the rising cost of coal.

  1. Brilliant Nigel and glad to have prompted you for this. The young chap on the washing line looks familiar. Although the caption could read, “Come quick mother, I think Andys pegged out.” Maybe these could run for future days of fun.

    1. Thank you Davy, these weird old photo’s are a gift from the comedy gods. I’ve quite a few, not sure re copyright but they’re everywhere. A fun day every now and again would be good, though I shall ‘cap’ myself at 3.

  2. I haven’t seen Davy’s post as I’m still trying to catch up but I will take a look as soon as I can. These are fun and funny, Nige. I think my favorite is the one with the dog, or maybe the lampshade, or the candle/hat…oh, I like them all.
